Data sources and references

4est combines open forest data, international taxonomy and freely licensed imagery. This page shows where each layer comes from.

Forest data

Forest compartment boundaries, tree composition, site type and stand age come from the LVM/VMD open datasets (CC0). They are state forest-inventory records, not 4est estimates.

Trails and places

Nature trails and tourism places come from the official tourism datasets. Trail start and end markers are derived from those route geometries.

Protected areas

Protected-area boundaries and status come from the official protected-area dataset. 4est displays them and does not offer a legal interpretation.

Taxonomy

Scientific classification is checked against GBIF Backbone Taxonomy. A link to the source appears on every species page.

Species ecology

Host trees, habitats and seasonality are curated 4est data built from published sources. They describe documented ecology, not an observation at a specific place.

Photographs

Species photographs come from Wikimedia Commons and are used under the licence and author recorded with each image. Every image keeps its licence and attribution.

Recipes and preparation photographs

Recipe text and preparation photographs come from the 1000.menu collection «Грибы на зиму» and are used with the project owner's permission. Every recipe keeps its source URL and author in the database for audit and export.

Community findings

Public findings come from 4est members who chose to publish them. Exact coordinates are never published — only the generalized precision the author selected.

Licences and attribution

Image attributions are listed below as their licences require. Where a licence requires a credit, it appears with the image and on the species page.

Photo sources and licences

Every credited image keeps its author, licence and source. They are collected here; in everyday browsing the photograph is shown without licence text, and the information is one tap away in the photo viewer.
