4est is operated by Uģis Karulis, an individual based in Latvia. Contact: support@4est.app.

4est helps you record, remember and revisit your own forest observations, mushroom findings, places and related context. The service is delivered through the iOS app, this website and an Android app that is currently in development, all behind a single 4est account. Features include capture, history, maps, saved places, environmental context, trip-planning information, navigation links, on-device mushroom-recognition suggestions, a personal species logbook, a mushroom catalogue, personal progression and insights, account synchronization and optional Community features such as profiles, posts, comments, reactions and following.

4est is a memory and trip-planning tool. Its recognition feature provides suggestions that can be wrong and must be confirmed by the user. 4est is not a substitute for professional mushroom identification, food-safety advice, local regulations, weather information, navigation judgment or responsible outdoor practice.

• Never eat a mushroom solely because of a recognition suggestion, confidence value, information, imagery or label in 4est.
• Edibility labels in the Species Library describe a species as reference information and are not a determination for a specific mushroom.
• A past finding or place highlighted by 4est does not mean mushrooms will be present again.
• Maps, GPS positions and routes can be inaccurate, incomplete or unsafe to reach.
• You are responsible for assessing terrain, weather, daylight, access rights, hunting activity and other hazards.
• Follow applicable laws, land-access rules, protected-area restrictions and foraging limits.

You must be authorized to create an account, and you are responsible for keeping access to your device and authentication method secure. Depending on the platform and configuration, you can sign in with Apple or Google.

You retain ownership of photos, notes, locations and other content you create. You give 4est only the rights needed to store, process, synchronize, back up and display that content for you and to operate features you request.

Community features are optional. When you publish content to Community, you grant 4est the limited rights needed to host, display, store and distribute that content within the Community features you use. We do not claim ownership of your content, and this licence does not cover your private journal, which is never published implicitly.

Shared posts may become visible to other signed-in accounts depending on your profile settings and the audience controls you choose. Content you remove, or content removed when you delete your account or the underlying finding, is no longer served through Community.

You can block other accounts and report content or accounts. We may review reports and remove content, restrict or suspend accounts that violate these Terms, or take other reasonable moderation actions. We have no obligation to monitor all Community content.

• Do not use the service unlawfully or interfere with the service or other systems.
• Do not attempt to access another person’s account or private data without authorization.
• Do not upload content you do not have the right to use, or content that is unlawful, abusive or deceptive.
• Do not attempt to locate another person’s exact finding locations from shared content.
• Do not use 4est as the sole basis for a decision where an error could cause serious harm.

When you share a finding, you choose the location context: nothing, a country, a region or an approximate area. Exact coordinates are not published. Approximate-area disclosure is designed to avoid revealing the precise point, but you should share only what you are comfortable with.

Notifications are optional. You control which Community activity notifies you and can disable notifications in the app or in your device settings.

4est may offer an optional subscription through Apple’s StoreKit. Purchases, billing, renewal, management and refunds are handled by Apple according to its terms. Deleting your 4est account does not cancel an App Store subscription; cancel it in your Apple ID settings.

4est uses Apple platform services (including Sign in with Apple, Maps, geocoding, WeatherKit, StoreKit and notifications), Google sign-in where it is available, DigitalOcean infrastructure and, for this website, Vercel hosting. Availability of those services can affect 4est.

Some sync and online features can be unavailable because of connectivity, maintenance or third-party services. Saved local history is designed to reduce dependence on a live connection for ordinary use, but not every feature is available offline.

We do not guarantee that a suggested place will contain mushrooms, that environmental context is complete, that a location is accessible or safe, or that a recognition suggestion, confidence value or other mushroom information identifies a specimen correctly or establishes edibility or safety.

You can use the deletion controls provided inside the app, or submit a deletion request from the account deletion page on this website. The Privacy Policy explains how cloud account data, private photos and Community content are handled when an account is deleted.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, 4est is provided without guarantees beyond rights that cannot legally be excluded. Nothing in these Terms removes mandatory consumer rights that apply to you.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Latvia, subject to any mandatory consumer protections or rights that apply in the country where you live.
